Altieri was a Luminary Sponsor of the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums Building MuseumsTM Symposium. The event is for architects, museum leaders, planners, project managers, technical experts, and all professionals who plan or implement new construction, renovation, preservation, or expansion projects for museums, and is one of the industry’s most successful annual gatherings.
As in previous years, Altieri also joined forces with one of our design teams for a compelling in-depth look at a notable project. Principals Kari Nystrom and Aaron Martin joined Scott Evans, Vice President of Capital Projects and Facilities, The National WWII Museum; Martin Stigsgaard, Principal, studioSTIGSGAARD; and Robert Malootian, Senior Exhibit Design Director, Gallagher & Associates to present Transformation of The National WWII Museum from Local Museum to National Cultural Institution: A Masterclass in Master Planning.
The session – one of over 20 offered during the 3-day conference – told the story of how careful, patient architectural planning, interpretive engagement, community involvement, clear understanding of future audiences, and phased strategic fundraising – not to mention considerable grit and fortitude over more than two decades – transformed a revered local museum into a cultural institution of national significance.
