Altieri’s inclusive workplace culture helps our staff thrive both professionally and personally.
Core Values
Our core values – crafted by our staff – guide Altieri’s aspirations and promote a just workplace. We value quality, integrity, continuous learning, and work/life balance, and being inclusive, collaborative, creative, and proactive.
“If there is one word that describes Altieri and what we are known for, it is creative. Our success designing building systems for iconic cultural, educational, and historic buildings is the result of a deeply rooted culture of creativity. Being creative – investigating alternatives, determining the best solution, being inventive and innovative – is what I want to be doing every day and is what I like most about working here.”
J. Kenny Wieber Jr., PE, LEED AP BD+C, LFA, Principal
Initiative Teams
Our employee-led Initiative Teams Program harnesses the power of an all-hands-on-deck approach to the continuous evaluation of firm practices, direction, and culture. In collaborative teams, employees consider important issues ranging from education and training to design standards. Team USA (United Strengths of Altieri), for example, supports our firm culture with a variety of initiatives focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee engagement. Our respect for diverse perspectives, expertise, and experience keeps us at the top of our game – nimble, imaginative, and innovative.
Community
“The John L. Altieri Memorial Scholarship, established in 2022, honors the founder of Altieri, a man whose immense talent and vision inspired all with whom he worked to reach their highest professional achievements. John’s philosophy and approach, embodied in our Core Values, continue to be the drivers of our firm’s success. Each year we look forward to presenting the scholarship award to a high school senior in the Norwalk Public Schools who intends to study engineering in college and exhibits our core values. It is important to us that we continue to honor John’s legacy by supporting deserving students in our community as they begin their path in the engineering sciences.”
Philip C. Steiner, PE, Principal and Managing Director
Altieri joins our professional colleagues and wider community in the commitment to build a more equitable, just, and inclusive future. We welcome diversity in our workplace, embrace change, and continually work to strengthen the industry, our staff, and work product. The creative efforts of our Initiative Teams have encouraged employees to share personal interests and spur greater firmwide engagement in the community. We love supporting local neighbors, events, and businesses.
Women in Engineering
“Your unique perspective as a woman in engineering can bring valuable insights to projects and teams.”
Amanda Cortese, Mechanical Engineer
Our Women in Engineering employee resource group puts a spotlight on how deeply we care about equitable representation in our workplace and the industry. Through a variety of activities, we focus on the ever-increasing contributions women are making and encourage more women to join the STEM community. Altieri’s commitment to moving the needle on gender equity is clear – Women make up 40% of our senior leadership team!
