Altieri is proud to share that The National WWII Museum has been recognized with a 2026 Award of Merit for Architectural Engineering Integration by the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI), part of ASCE.
AEI announced the award at its March 2026 conference. The AEI Professional Project Awards recognize excellence in high-performance, integrated building design. They highlight achievements across structural, mechanical, electrical, and multidisciplinary coordination.
The National WWII Museum project earned an Award of Merit for successfully integrating complex building systems into a cohesive, high-performing cultural institution. Over a 20-year, multi-phase campus build, Altieri maintained consistent quality, architectural continuity, and system performance with seamless integration of MEPF systems. Critical systems were strategically future-proofed in early phases to support later pavilion interconnections. The design aligned each pavilion, from the first completed in 2007 to the most recent in 2023.
The project also addressed long-term change by designing systems that adapt to new technologies, evolving exhibits, and increasing energy-efficiency expectations. This recognition highlights the team’s collaboration and reinforces Altieri’s commitment to integrated design and building performance.
It is a great honor to contribute to a nationally significant project and stand among this year’s distinguished award recipients.
