The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum Opens

Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum Opening

On June 4, 2025, The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk, CT officially opened to the public!

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum was built in 1864-68 for renowned financier and railroad tycoon LeGrand Lockwood. It is regarded as one of the earliest and most significant Second Empire Style country houses in the United States. Altieri has completed multiple projects at the Museum. Our most recent work included completion of original design work, adding fire protection system throughout the building, adding air conditioning in the basement, first, and second floors, and upgrading the lighting in public areas.

After being closed for two years, the Museum has opened to the public. With the new upgrades throughout the building, it can now stay open year-round. Congratulations to David Scott Parker Architects and the entire design team for the hard-work put into this project!

The mansion is glowing now from the front door to the interior. People are seeing (it) literally in a different light because there’s a lot of new light to focus on the artistry in the building, and that’s exciting to me.
