Opened in 1931, Guild Hall has served four generations and shown audiences the most celebrated artists and performers. Its purpose is to inspire the community through visual and performing arts programs, including both a theater and museum. Guild Hall hosts 60,000 visitors and exhibits over 200 programs each year, with over half of these various programs shown at the theater.
Work at Guild Hall took place in phases over five years and included a rebuild/restoration of the museum, creation of a new education center and administrative offices, and restoration of the 360-seat theater and its support spaces. The most considerable phase of the project was the renovation of Phase IV, which included a complete overhaul of the Hilarie and Mitchell Morgan Theater (formerly John Drew Theater) and all building systems, as well as a redesign of the lobby area and museum shop. The theatre was in need of a significant systems overhaul due, in part, to an uneven and noisy heating and air conditioning system. Altieri designed all new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, supporting all phases, and resulting in a state-of-the-art theater space within the historic building.
