A sustainable waterfront park stretching 1.5 miles along the East River shoreline

Brooklyn Bridge Park is a sustainable waterfront park stretching 1.5 miles along Brooklyn’s East River shoreline. The goal of the multi-phase project was to create and maintain a world class park that is a recreational, environmental, and cultural destination enjoyed by residents of and visitors to New York City.

Altieri has partnered on multiple phases of the park development beginning in 2012 with ARO’s Environmental Education Center at 99 Plymouth Street project. An abandoned vacant masonry building was transformed into the new Center that includes exhibition space, public restrooms, park facilities maintenance shop, and staff space. We also worked with ARO on a new Maintenance & Operations (M&O) building and an exciting new boathouse that includes a kayak storage facility and multipurpose space, and boasts the “best view in the world,” [ARO]. Altieri has worked with MVVA throughout the park, providing infrastructure systems that seamlessly integrate and disappear into the landscape. All park sections include new lighting and multi-level control systems. The complete list of Altieri projects at Brooklyn Bridge Park comprises DEP Buildings, Marina, Public Boathouse/M&O Building, Brooklyn Bridge Plaza, Pier 1 Entry, Piers 2, 3, and 5 Uplands, Pier 3, Piers 5 and 6, Lighting Protection, Pier 6 and Pavilion, Pier 6 Upgrades.
