Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

Kn At Holy Child 1

I once again had the pleasure of presenting Careers in Architectural Engineering to the students in the Engineering, Architecture, and Design (EAD) program at School of the Holy Child, an all-girls school in Rye, New York.

EAD at Holy Child is a fantastic program that combines the study of art and architecture with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Ironically, they had never heard of an “architectural engineer” when I first presented to them last year!

I talked with the students about careers in Architectural Engineering and about my own career experiences. We discussed the differences between being an architect and being an architectural engineer, reviewed example projects, and took a live tour of The Obama Presidential Center Revit model.

Each time I have presented at Holy Child, the students have been really engaged in the presentation and have asked great questions afterward. Last year, two of the students contacted me about summer internships. Altieri hosted them last summer, (see Altieri Summer Interns Reporting In! written by Riley and Caroline), and one will be returning this summer as well. Both are headed to college to study engineering.

Altieri loves to spread the word of careers in architectural engineering. If you know of a middle or high school that may be interested in my presentation, please reach out!
