Our Power, Our PlanEt
As we continue to settle in to our new office, we celebrate Earth Day by gifting each employee with a succulent to add to their desks. Succulents are an eco-friendly plant needing little water which, of course, helps the environment. An additional and less widely known benefit is that these plants also help purify our air. Succulents remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the air, convert them into nourishment, and release oxygen back into the air we breathe. As an added bonus, they are low maintenance plants allowing even someone without a green thumb to care for this plant!
A few other ways we have gone green within our office:
- Employees are provided coffee mugs, utensils, plates, and bowls – greatly reducing the use of plastic and paper goods.
- Eco-friendly products are used when paper goods (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.) can’t be avoided.
- Motion sensor lights throughout the office automatically turn lights off in unused areas.
- A kitchen compost bin helps reduce the amount of waste we produce.
- Local vendors keep our shipping footprint to a minimum.
Just in time for Earth Day, we have also proudly signed the letter urging the Environmental Protection Agency to fully fund the ENERGY STAR program, which saves businesses and consumers billions of dollars on energy costs each year.
